SMITH COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - The Ku Klux Klan is still alive in parts of Mississippi.
The Smith County Sheriff's Department confirms that the white supremacist group made arrangements to march at the courthouse in Raleigh at noon Saturday.
Callers to WLBT News say some Klan members wore white robes.
Smith County Sheriff Charlie Crumpton says they come from a Klan organization in Petal.
Sheriff Crumpton tells us organized groups are allowed to use the courthouse on weekends if prior arrangements are made. We are told the Klan members never marched. they only spoke.
They were asked to leave after about an hour so violence would not erupt.
