Florence family loses everything in house fire

FLORENCE, MS (WLBT) - A Florence family suffered the total loss of their home Tuesday.

Just after 11 a.m., Florence Volunteer Fire Fighters responded to the Copper Ridge subdivision and found a home with flames pouring from the roof. Monterrey and Cleary Volunteers assisted, but the house was gutted by the blaze.

The home, located just blocks from Florence High School, belonged to Coach Sean Gerald. He is the head softball and assistant football coach there. Team members showed up to offer support, and the Gerald's church is generating essentials to aid the couple and their son who were not at home at the time, but lost everything including Christmas gifts.

An account has been set up to help the Geralds.

Donations can be made at any Copiah Bank location in the Sean and Nicky Gerald Fund.

The Gerald's home was fully insured. That fire remained under investigation Tuesday.
