North Jackson Dealership Closes

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Action Chrysler, Jeep Dodge in Jackson is closing it's doors at the close of business Wednesday.

The North Jackson dealership at the site of the old Blackwell Chevrolet on I-55 Frontage Road is owned by the Chrysler Corporation.  Fred Davis, a Chrysler Executive who is in town said the closure was because of the slow economy.  The dealership told all of it's employees Tuesday afternoon that Wednesday would be their last day.

Chrysler had taken the Dodge Dealership away from Doug Wilson about six months ago and Action was the only Dodge Dealer in Jackson until they recently allowed Doug's brother Alan to add the Dodge brand to his Chrysler Jeep dealership.

Fred Davis, Marketing Investment and Field Operations Manager says they are trying to sell the dealership to local investors.

The lot at the dealership will be sold to other Chrysler Dealerships across the country.
