JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A Jackson teenager killed in an overnight crash has been identified.
JPD investigators say 17-year-old Kandice Johnson died at the scene of a two car collision on interstate 20 at Terry Road. It happened shortly after 11p.m. last night. It is unclear if icy conditions were a factor in the wreck.
Jackson police say Johnson's vehicle struck an SUV head on in that accident. Four adults and two children, ages two and four, were inside the SUV.
"A small blue vehicle traveling west bound on I-20 came across the middle median and struck a suburban traveling east bound on I-20. The driver of the small vehicle is deceased," said JPD officer Joseph Daughtry.
The six people in the SUV were transported to UMC with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
Johnson was a Wingfield High school graduate.
