JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Mississippi will now have a place to treat burn victims.
The State Health Department has granted a certificate of need to establish a 15-bed burn center in Brandon.
The burn unit will be located at Crossgates River Oaks Hospital making it the only specialized burn care facility in the state.
Right now, burn victims must to be taken out of state for treatment.
The facility also plans to provide trauma care services.
The project will cost nearly $6 million dollars.
