JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - PETA representatives got all wet in the latest stunt to bring attention to the animal advocacy organization.

There was quite a bit of head turning Monday in downtown Jackson as two naked women from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals lathered up on the street corner.

The two showered together at the intersection of East Capitol and Lamar Streets.

Another PETA member, Kristina Addington, accompanied the women wearing a white bathrobe and drenched hair.

They were naked behind a banner that read "Clean your conscience: Go vegan-one pound of meat equals 6 months of showers".

PETA said the meat industry wastes water and produces greenhouse gasses.

"You don't have to go without showering to have a clean conscience about the amount of water you're using. You simply stop eating meat. It takes more than 2,400 gallons of water to produce one pound of hamburger. That's more than we use in six months of showers," said PETA representative Kristina Addington.

During the exhibition Jackson police asked the women to move from the downtown corner to Smith Park, the location of their permit.

They immediately left the area.
