RANKIN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - The water coming out of that pipe is the leak.  If you don't know where it is, east of the spillway, you won't find it, but, Reservoir officials have decided it must be fixed.

They are taking no chances that the small leak could become a boil, meaning water boiling up on the south side of the dam after coming through it or under it.

Wednesday, there were dirt trucks, sand bags and a back hoe in place so any boil could be quickly surrounded.

Reservoir Manager John Sigman talked to WLBT about the leak.

"The leak has not changed since that time.  We have been monitoring every week, and we are observing this continuously.  The leak has not changed at all," said Sigman.  "We don't expect it to, and we are investigating, coming on, and what we need to do."

M.W.H. Engineering out of Chicago, the company which built the dam in the 1960's, has been hired for $100,000 to come up with a solution to fix the leak.

A truck is drilling down into the dam to get soil samples, so they can make a decision about what they are going to do to fix the problem.
