Quiz Bowl Held for the Deaf

A very special high school quiz bowl has been underway in Jackson this week.

Deaf students from across the southeast and a few from the western region are taking part in an academic bowl at the Mississippi School for the Deaf. The competitors are reading the questions and writing the answers. Winners will be awarded trophies and certificates. The quiz bowl for the deaf is in its tenth year, and organizers say it's a good way to drill the students on what they've learned.

“It’s a range of subject matter from math to potpourri, to science, social studies, everything the students learn in their curriculum,” said Chacie Joseph, organizer.

This is the first year the Mississippi School for the Deaf has hosted the regional quiz bowl.
