JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Hinds County Sheriff Malcolm McMillin denies Karen Irby got any special treament when she turned herself in Monday.
Irby, indicted Friday for two counts of depraved heart murder and one count of assault, was escorted by a deputy's vehicle to a place where the media could not photograph her at the Hinds County Jail.
A mug shot was released which looked entirely different from the usual mug shot released by Hinds County.
Irby, who married into one of Jackson's most prominent and wealthy families, is charged with driving a Mercedes more than 100 miles per hour, crossing the median, hitting two doctors head on and killing them while she was legally drunk, last February.
She was quickly released after pleading not guilty Monday, on a $250,000 bond.
