Jackson, MS (WLBT) - On the heels of the House of Representatives passage of a health care bill a local group marched to protect children and their health care needs.

The local chapter of the Children's Defense Fund gathered at the state capitol Sunday afternoon for a "stroller brigade."  The group wants to expand publicly funded health insurance to a larger number of children from low income families.  Saturday night the House passed a healthcare bill that would cover millions of uninsured Americans and prevent insurance companies from refusing coverage because of pre-existing conditions.  Children's Defense Fund leaders want Washington to remember children's needs too.

"There are three simple things we are asking for.  We want a seamless and simple enrollment process.  We want it to be comprehensive.  We want to make sure everything is included, everything a child needs is covered.  We also want it to be an affordable option," said Kim Robinson with Children's Defense Fund.

On the other end of the political spectrum, conservatives are gathered for a Tea Party event in Brandon.  Lt. Governor Phil Bryant and some physicians were expected to speak out in opposition to a large government role in health care.
