Mayoral candidates appear at second library forum

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Jackson mayoral candidates returned to the public library to campaign for votes.

The second I Got My Start at the Library forum was held Monday evening at the Margaret Walker Alexander location.

The first forum was held last month at Northside Library.

Candidates talked about the library's impact on their lives, shared their platforms and took questions from the public.

Nine candidates participated.

There are 10 democrats, four independents and two republicans in the race for Jackson mayor.

Democrats Joyce Harper and Faye Peterson dropped out of the race last week.

"Immediately after the event that we had at Northside, we had patrons come and said 'Look what about addressing these same issues in south Jackson and west Jackson'," said Charlotte Moman with the Jackson Hinds Library System.

The democratic primary is May 5th, followed by the runoff on May 19th.

The general election is June 2nd.
