Meet the candidates forum held at community college campus

PEARL, MS (WLBT) - There are 27 candidates running for office in Pearl.

Thursday night some of them participated in a forum to give voters an opportunity to hear their ideas first hand.

Incumbent Pearl Mayor Jimmy Foster is facing opposition from three other candidates. He has served in the office since 1997.

Don Jackson, Kevin Kimery and Brad Rogers are running against Foster.

Candidates for Alderman at Large, and District 6 Alderman also participated in the forum.

Organizers say it was the best way to get more information on where the candidates stand.

Joan Blanks, the forum organizer said, "I've only lived in pearl for 4 years and I love it.   And I think that we have a great future, there are many things we want to accomplish but it takes all of us working together and we're willing and ready to do it."

Madison Mayor, Mary Hawkins-Butler was the moderator for the forum.

It was held at the Pearl campus of Hinds Community College.

Several candidates were not able to attend.
