Irby family on trip during indictment

Jackson, MS (WLBT) - It appears the prominent Jackson couple involved in a deadly wreck a few months has been jet setting.  This just days after WLBT learned Karen Irby had been indicted by a Hinds County Grand Jury on murder charges related to the accident.

A flight plan found on the website reveals the Irby family's private plane returning to Yazoo County Airport from Destin, Florida.  The plane departed at 3:08 Sunday afternoon, but it never arrived in Yazoo County.  WLBT has learned the plane was diverted to another airport and arrived just before 4:30.  This comes just days after Hinds County Court officials confirmed Karen Irby had been indicted on two counts of depraved heart murder and one count of aggravated assault.  It all stems from a violent wreck on the night of February 11.

Police say a late model Mercedes driven by Karen Irby slammed head-on into a truck carrying Dr. Mark Pogue, and his fiancee, Dr. Lisa Dedousis.   Pogue and Dedousis were pronounced dead at the scene.  The aggravated assault is related to injuries suffered by Karen Irby's husband, Stuart.  He was a passenger in her car.

The couple survived but has required extensive medical care.  Hinds County Circuit Judge Tomie Green will hear the case against Karen Irby.
