Jackson State Students Help with Energy Efficiency

Jackson State students are working out in the community before school starts next week.

They're delivering free energy-efficient light bulbs to residents in the area. It's giving freshmen a chance to get to know the neighborhood... as well as rack up community service hours.

Neighborhood residents hope the free flourescent bulbs will help with their energy bills.

"We need help with our energy and stuff," said Tamekia Rose, Jackson Resident. "Light bills are too high, really."

"We just try to get beyond our environment of Jackson State and try to branch out and get to know people," said Charli Holbrook, JSU Student.

Other JSU freshmen spent the day volunteering for community organizations and local schools. Jackson State requires students to do 120 hours of community service before graduating.
