She grew up the daughter of an academy awarding winning actor and now Beverly Poitier-Henderson is touring the country promoting her first novel.
The eldest daughter of Sidney Poitier was signing her book 'Nana' Saturday at Barnes and Nobles. The fictional story started out as a screenplay. The feel good read tells the story of an outspoken grandmother who talks to meddlesome ghosts and a skeptical independent minded granddaughter.
"One of the things they want is for Nana's granddaughter, who's single, to find this man and they say that he is her true love. They want her to find him, save is life and marry him, but there are a lot of complications, one being that the granddaughter doesn't believe in ghosts, so they have to convince her to listen to them," said Poitier-Henderson.
The Atlanta-based author drew qualities from her grandmother, mother and sister for the basis of her characters. Her next book signing is in Oxford.
