March 4, 1997: A fire destoryed a popular party boat on the Ross Barnett Reservoir.
Called the Friendship, the boat went up in flames in the middle of the night.
It was three stories high and 80 feet long, and it had been cruising the reservoir for some 20 years.
It took firefighters more than five hours to get the blaze under control. It had started in the back of the boat, near the engines.
The Friendship has been re-built since it burned.
Some wheel chair bound residents in the Capital City claim they are being forced to ride in the street while traveling areas that have no sidewalks.More >>
