MADISON COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Former Congressman Chip Pickering and coach Christopher Hester were both released on $500.00 bond Wednesday.
The two men filed simple assault charges against each other, after an altercation at a youth soccer game in Madison Sunday. Friday, Municipal Court Judge Dale Danks moved their court date from January 14th, to the 19th.
Hester's attorney says that was to accommodate the schedules of the attorneys. Judge Danks also placed a gag order over everyone involved in the case. Hester who is wearing a neck brace from a prior surgery says Pickering attacked him, after he scolded a group of soccer players.
Pickering says it was Hester who grew irate when he told him not to speak to the children, in that manner.
