Coach faces sexual battery charge

ASHLAND, MS (AP) - Benton County Sheriff Arnie McMullin says a coach at Hickory Flat Attendance Center has been charged with sexual battery charge.

McMullin told the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal that authorities arrested Jason Keene Monday based on a complaint from the guardian of a female student. A $10,000 bond has been set by the district attorney's office.

Keene is on administrative leave with pay while the investigation is pending.

Keene began working for the Benton County School System at the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year. He was hired as the coach for the high school boys' basketball team.

A dispatcher at the sheriff's department said she didn't know if Keene has an attorney.
