Jackson, MS (WLBT) - A Jackson elementary school was filled with toys Tuesday morning.
The toys will soon be distributed to kids in need, through the United States Marines' "Toys for Tots" program. John Hopkins Elementary School hosted the toy drive, asking for new and unwrapped toys as Christmas gifts for needy children.
The school spent the last three weeks collecting more than four--hundred toys.
"We are just elated the students are taking the opportunity to not only look out for themselves, but for the benefit of other students and families that may be less fortunate this season, " says, Assistant Principal, Stephen Johnson.
The "Toys for Tots" campaign coordinates with an effort this month at John Hopkins to promote "Caring" among students.
Jefferson County Sheriff Peter Walker has identified the woman found dead in the cemetery of East Mount Olive Baptist Church Wednesday night.
