Veteran reunited with siblings for Christmas

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A veteran living in Jackson got his special Christmas wish granted Friday.

Theodore Loftus is a resident at the Mississippi State Veterans Home and all he wanted for Christmas was to have his family join him at their Christmas party.

Administrators at the facility didn't even know he had family.

But Loftus told them about his brother and sister from Louisiana.

They were all displaced following Hurricane Katrina.

After some digging, the staff found his brother living in Gulfport and his sister who lives in Jackson.

"He is very excited. His wish has been answered. All of the gifts he wanted this year, he has gotten. So, we love making these kind of dreams come true," said Shirley Vance, activity director for Mississippi State Veterans Home.

Other residents also received gifts for Christmas thanks to the Make A Wish Foundation and the Mississippi Health Care Association.
