
JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Family and friends are mourning the death of a well-known Jackson jeweler.
Hinds County Coroner Sharon-Grisham Stewart says 56-year-old Joel Clarke died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. It happened around 9:30 Friday morning at Clarke's Lakeland Drive store.
An employee said Clarke locked himself in the store bathroom before taking his life. Clarke also owned a jewelry store inside the Region's Building downtown. He is survived by his wife and four children.
Jefferson County Sheriff Peter Walker has identified the woman found dead in the cemetery of East Mount Olive Baptist Church Wednesday night.
