Candlelight vigil held for murdered Jackson teen

 JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Three days after 14 year-old Martez Hollins was gunned down on Cummins Street in South Jackson about 50 family members and friends gather at the same spot to lean on each other for strength.

"With prayer we know that we will literally get through this, but this is hard. All we have is faith and each other," said Hollins' aunt Vickie Ward.

Hollins was an innocent bystander on the night of December 17th.  That's when his older brothers were fighting with another group of teens in the street.  Someone pulled out a gun and fatally shot Hollins and injured his 16 year old brother Christopher Gilmore.

 "I'm still just trying to take it in that he's gone.  I just want everybody to know that it ain't worth all of this.  Ain't none of this stuff worth losing your brother," said Hollins' older brother Jonathan Bosley.

"It ain't all about no guns.  It ain't about who's hard.  It's all about God.  So I hope you all young folks get yourselves together," said Hollins' father Carlo Brown. 

Anonymous tips led Jackson Police to arrest 17 year old Kendrick Claiborne.  He is charged with accessory after the fact.  Jackson Police expect to make more arrests while a family prays for closure.

"Just bring them to justice.   You know honestly, I know it's hard on whoever it is these other family members, but they don't understand the impact they have really put on us," said Ward.
