One injured in afternoon shooting

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - One man was injured in a shooting this afternoon at Winter & Dalton Streets. The shooting happened around 1:30

The driver of the car was not hit, and drove to Highway 80, near Valley, where he flagged down a Jackson Police Officer.

Twenty-eight year old Eldridge Simon of Jackson was shot in the back. He was taken to UMMC, where he is in surgery. Police don't know if his injuries are life-threatening.

A short time later, police took three men into custody a few blocks away on Terry Road, but all three have been released.

Jackson Police spokesmen Joe Daughtry says they don't have any suspects at this time.
