JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A judge denied bond Tuesday for a Jackson man accused of setting fire to his girlfriend.
Lewis Wade, 49, is charged with aggravated assault in the attack late Saturday night outside the VFW Lounge on Sunray Drive. Fire investigators say he poured gasoline on Shirley Clayton, 52, as she was sitting in a car.
Clayton is being treated for burns over 40 percent of her body at the Georgia Burn Center, where she is in fair condition, according to the Jackson Fire Department.
Wade will remain at the Hinds County Detention Center.
