PEARL, MS (WLBT) - It's New Year's Eve and that means many of you are thinking getting ready to start your new year's resolutions.
One of the top resolutions every year is getting in shape.
Fitness experts say more people join gyms in January than any other time of year.
But it can be tough to stay on track especially in a tough economy, when fewer people are joining gyms.
Some exercisers at the Curves in Pearl say the key is to make sure you have a routine that fits your lifestyle.
"Get off the couch. It's worth it. You feel better, you look better. It's just healthy exercise," said Vivian Banston, member of Curves fitness club.
"I really think we need to realize our health is important. And we need to preserve that," said Michelle Harper, owner of Curves.
Working out with a friend can help you stay on track. And make sure you have realistic goals.
It's easy to get discouraged unless you take small steps first.
