JACKSON, MS (WLBT) – 3rd District Congressman Gregg Harper is seeking re-election.
After speaking before a crowd of supporters Monday, Harper signed a letter of intent to run.
The 53-year-old freshman congressman says he will stand firm on conservative republican principles and fight fundamentalist Islamic terrorists.
He opposes deficit spending and cap and trade legislation.
Harper says it is a national energy tax that will send manufacturing jobs overseas. "Cap and trade is a disaster for our country, and I think it's worse than even the attempted government takeover of our health care system. So we'll continue to try to do things that we can agree on with a bi-partisan way that will perhaps help us improve the situation, but having the government take over every aspect of that is not the solution."
The election is November 2nd.
