Late Morning Weather Update

Posted: Updated:

By Eric Law - email

Winter Weather Advisories continue along and north of the I-20 corridor. Temperatures continue to remain just a few degrees above freezing, keeping most of the area in a cold rain. Arctic front will arrive in the Mississippi Delta by early afternoon and surge southeast through early evening. Temperatures will fall behind the front. Any moisture still over us will turn to light sleet/light snow with little, if any, accumulation. Roads, bridges and overpasses may still freeze over as temperatures drop into the teens tonight. If you have travel plans this evening through early Friday morning, be sure to check the latest road conditions before heading out.

Extremely cold temperatures will remain over the area through the weekend with some areas not going back above freezing until Sunday afternoon. Residents of central and south Mississippi are urged to stay with WLBT for further weather updates on the wintry precipitation chances and the cold temperatures.
