Major Ice Issues Prompt Jackson Road Closure

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A main Jackson road is shut down in all directions due to major ice issues. And officials estimate it could be shut down all day.

Officials said a pipe burst at North State Street and Broadway Avenue just North of the Fondren area just after 6:00 Friday morning, causing water to run down the street and freeze.

Police are shutting down all Northbound and Southbound lanes of State Street in that area while they clear the ice.

The water department has been alerted.

Officials estimate the road will re-open around 5 PM.
