WARREN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Two people are under arrest, including a pregnant convicted felon for the 2007 killing of James Buie. Buie was a well known Vicksburg businessman. Police say this is an on-going investigation and would not discuss the motive.

Tonight Deputy Chief Jeffery Scott is not ruling out additional arrests. Thirty eight year old Valarie Shepard is charged with Buie's murder. Shepard has a violent criminal history. Convicted of shooting her husband to death in 1993. Sentenced to 12 years for manslaughter. Friday the murder suspect had little to following her arrest.

"Did you have anything to do with this? Why did they get you then," Shepard was asked.

Shepard's accused partner in the deadly crime is 23 year old Timothy Clark. Clark is serving 45 years for armed carjacking and remains behind bars. Now he faces another charge. Accessory to murder.

James Buie was shot to death in the summer of 2007 at a Vicksburg car wash near Clay and Hope streets. After nearly four years, Vicksburg police finally got the break they were looking for. Critical information matched up by informants. "Mr. Buie was able to assist in the investigation prior to his demise. We took that information combined with information developed locals here in the community and put this thing together," according to Deputy Chief Scott.

Family members were grateful for the arrest. "It's a relief, kind of hard to explain, only my family knows how it feels," said his son, Calvin Buie.

With the arrest of Shepard and charges against Clark Vicksburg police are closing the books on yet another unsolved cold case murder.
