More investigation in animal killings

Posted: Updated:

CANTON, MS (WLBT) - New details on the Canton Animal Control Officer accused of improperly killing and disposing of dogs in Madison County.

On Wednesday we told you that Alonzo Esco had already lost his job. Now he could face criminal charges. Canton Alderman Charles Weems says photos from a police department investigation show as many as 100 dogs were killed and dumped in a creek down the road from where these pictures were taken.

Esco's job was to euthanize animals that posed a threat or had illnesses. But in the photos, many of the animals appeared to have been healthy before they died. Canton Police are now sending the case to the district attorney's office.
