JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A Mississippi Blues Marathon runner collapses on the course and later dies.
According to Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart, 40-year-old Charles Brown of Ridgeland collapsed in the last leg of the marathon at the intersection of State and George Streets.
He was transported to Baptist Hospital where he died just before 3:00 Saturday afternoon.
The coroner says it appears he died of natural causes.
Brown was one of roughly 500 people who participated in the 26.2 mile marathon.
This is the third year for the Blues Marathon presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi.
