
JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Jackson Public Schools is shortening the school day today because of the number of schools impacted by the City of Jackson's water problems.
Elementary schools will dismiss at noon, middle schools at 12:30 and high schools at 1pm.
JPS has also canceled all after school programs, athletic events, adult education classes at the Career Development Center and the Adult Education Program's GED/Literacy/ESL classes.
School officials will monitor the city's progress on the water problems, and will decide the status of school for Tuesday no later than 5am Tuesday morning.
The city of Jackson has scheduled a news conference for noon on the water conditions.
