3 plead guilty in alleged Miss. meth ring

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Three people have pleaded guilty to conspiring with what authorities called the biggest methamphetamine ring in Mississippi, with connections to several other states.

Court records say Richard Scott Morea, David Gene Johnston and Diana L. Pearson pleaded guilty Wednesday before U.S. District Judge Keith Starrett in Hattiesburg. Sentencing was set for April 20.

Sixteen others face federal charges and dozens were charged in state court.

Authorities say the alleged organization was based in Mississippi and had ties to Alabama, Florida and Texas. Investigators said the group distributed more than 50 pounds of Mexican meth a month.

Narcotics agents say they dismantled the organization last June in a massive sweep.
