JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The Salvation Army offered hot showers to those needing running water. From 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Thursday, a hot shower was available at the Salvation Army's Center of Hope on Presto Lane in Jackson. The disaster shower trailer featured six shower stalls and 800 gallons of water. The Salvation Army has also been hard hit by the water crisis. Its shelter houses 120 people who also useD the showers.
"We've got the shower unit hooked up now so everybody is going to smell better and look better," said Captain Ken Chapman. "We're opening this up to the public so they can come if they need relief. We want to be able to provide that."
Captain Chapman said if there is a continued need, the Salvation Army will consider opening the showers to the public again Friday.
