Jackson Water System Update - from Mayor Harvey Johnson's Office

The Surface Water System pressure is back to normal. The plants' pressures are 86 psi at Fewell and 89 psi at O.B. Curtis.

This city has adequate pressure and volume for fire protection. The City plans to pull water samples for bacteriological testing by the Health Department today and Saturday.

150 samples per day will be needed for testing. Two days of good test results will be needed before the boil water advisory can be lifted. Please remind citizens to continue to boil water in the meantime.

The Well System in southwest Jackson pressure is still recovering. All customers on the well system should have some pressure and most should have normal pressure. Those homes on hills or higher elevations may continue to have low water pressure for another day.

At last count 156 water breaks had been reported. Any outstanding breaks are minimal and fall within the normal number for this time of year. However, the additional crews from other agencies and municipalities will continue to assist throughout the day.

Action Line is still staffed with extra individuals throughout the day at 601-960-1111 to answer residents' questions.
