JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Children needing a creative outlet will be getting a helping hand thanks to a new non-profit called Mississippi Music In Motion. Organizers goals are to provide musical instruments and after school lessons to needy and deserving children in the Jackson area.
The new charity held a kick off fundraiser at the Mississippi Arts Center downtown Saturday night.
Original pieces from local artists were for sale to help get the new non-profit started.
"The instruments survived a fire from Richard's music some years ago. So we created works of art so that we can sell them and generate more funds to buy more instruments that have life that remain in them," said Music In Motion Founder Bette Shornick.
