JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Police are searching for the man who robbed a Brandon restaurant at gunpoint Wednesday morning. It happened at the Subway on 220 East Government Street in downtown Brandon, across the street from the Rankin County Sheriff's Department.
"It's shocking, at this time of the morning, there's police everywhere, Sheriff's cars, so it's kind of shocking," said Brandon Police Chief Ken McBroom.
Police said a black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt walked into the restaurant, showed employees a gun, and demanded money. Then, he escaped out the back door with an undisclosed amount of cash.
K-9 units weren't able to track a scent, so Brandon police believe the man may have driven away from the scene.
"We don't have any idea which way he went at this point. We set up a perimeter and got canines out. At this point, we're trying to come up with any lead we can get," said McBroom.
No one was injured, but the two employees inside were visibly shaken.
If you have any information, you are asked to call Brandon Police. That number is (601) 825-7225.
