HINDS COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A Jackson man will spend the rest of his life in prison for murder.
22-year-old Deshun Vaughn was killed on February 21, 2007.
29-year-old Brian Sweet was convicted in a Hinds County courtroom for Vaughn's murder. He was then sentenced to life in prison.
Authorities say Sweet was involved in an altercation with then 22-year-old Vaughn.
Sweet hit the victim several times with a steel pipe and his co-defendant Carl Hollins kicked him.
After Vaughn was knocked unconscious Sweet placed a pair of socks in his mouth and tied his hands up. Vaughn died of suffocation.
Sweet then wrapped up the victim, took him to a vacant lot, and set his body on fire.
