JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Another string of church burglaries were reported across the capitol city over the weekend, for the second straight week.
Friday night, Free Missionary Baptist Church was burglarized in the Washington Addition.
Sunday night, Cornerstone Baptist Church and Cherry Grove Baptist Church on Martin Luther King Boulevard were both broken into.
Most of the churches report valuable electronics equipment missing, along with musical instruments. Several of the churches hit report they don't have insurance and will have to burden their congregations to replace the items.
"It's mind boggling people would come in breaking into churches, it used to be a thing you would respect the most were churches now like it's another thing for people to be breaking into," said Carol Armstrong, secretary at Cherry Grove.
Nothing was taken at her church, the alarm system scared away the burglar.
Last weekend, three churches were hit in the Capitol Street area.
The Jackson Police department says they have no leads on the burglaries at this time. They're organizing a plan to stop the burglaries, which they hope to put in place in the coming weeks.
