A tenth church has been burglarized in Jackson since the beginning of the new year.

The latest was New Jerusalem in the 5700 block of Old Canton Road.  It is the old Colonial Heights Baptist Church, across from the Colonial Country Club.

Alvin Jackson, church operations manager, told Jackson Police $15,000 worth of property was stolen.  The burglars entered through a window in the church basement, which had two panes broken out of it to reach through and release a lock.

Police say they do not know who is burglarizing the churches.

The Community Services Division of JPD will try to educate Jackson area churches on how to prevent falling victim to thieves.

Officers will host a house of worship crime prevention seminar Wednesday, February 3rd at the Jackson Police Training Academy on St. Charles Street.

The seminar will last from 1 to 3 p.m.
