JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Police have arrested and charged a man with burglarizing a Jackson church.

Just before 3 a.m. Friday morning, Precinct 2 Officer Roderick Holmes responded to an alarm call at Calvary Baptist Church on Capitol Street.

Officer Holmes found 52-year-old Alfred Lewis of Jackson walking around inside the church.

When Lewis spotted the officer, he bolted outside and ran into the woods behind the building.

The officer called for back-up and gave chase.

Lewis was apprehended without incident.

Police have not said if Lewis may be a suspect in the other church burglaries in capital city.
