BRANDON, MS (WLBT) - Noel Daniels, part owner of Gray Daniels Toyota in Brandon, is still waiting for information from Toyota on the recall with such important questions as how long will take to fix a car with an accelerator problem and when will the parts arrive.
"We are waiting now on a conference call and we expect it at any time, as to what it is, what part it's gonna take are the parts available and how long it will take to get your car back on the road.," said Daniels.TOY
Not all Toyotas are affected. We learned that cars made in Japan, which have a "J" as the first letter of their serial number do not have the problem. Local dealers want you to bring your Toyota in if you have any doubts about it.
Bryan Shufelt, sales manager of Herrin Gear Toyota told us it will take a short amount of time to determine if you vehicle is affected.
"So bring your car in, we will inspect it, we will let you know in about two minutes to three minutes if your car needs notification or not. And if there is a problem Toyota is willing to step up and take care of transportation for you, if there is a problem with your car right now, and Toyota is taking care of the problem," Shufelt said.
The cars affected have a silver piece of metal on the left side of the accelerator which is easily visible if you get down there to look.
Toyota still sells 11 models not affected by the problem and we have been told cars made in japan are safe.
