JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Jackson police have not been able to locate the family of a pedestrian who died after being hit on Highway 80 Thursday night.
Officers said the man was struck by a vehicle around 8 p.m.at the intersection of Highway 80 and south Gallatin Street.
The 42-year-old victim was pronounced dead at University Medical Center.
Investigators said the Delta resident was crossing the highway when he was hit by a gray Pontiac Firebird.
It sustained major front end damage.
According to Officer Roderick Holmes, police have been trying to find the man's family since the accident happened.
So far the unnamed driver of the vehicle has not been charged.
