JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Thursday's steady downpours proved too much for one creek bed in Jackson.
Around lunchtime, a massive oak tree toppled onto Eddie Green's house on Queen Eleanor Lane. His wife was inside at the time, but no one was hurt. It caused extensive damage inside and outside the home.
Green said he's been complaining to the City of Jackson that the creek bed needs some reinforcement. The city recently came out and addressed some of the street flooding issues, but nothing has been done to the creek. Now, residents are paying the price.
"As a taxpayer, I believe the City of Jackson should now address (these problems)," Green said.
The Greens have no insurance on their home, and they have no estimate on the damage.
