Two one-vehicle wrecks in Copiah Co. Saturday

COPIAH COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A few one-vehicle accidents occurred in Copiah County Saturday morning.

The first occurred just after 7:30 a.m. A tractor trailer with Oklahoma tags toppled over and ended up lodged in a patch of pine trees outside Sudie's Restaurant on Highway 27 South.

Witnesses say the driver, 50-year-old Donald Freeman of Silver Creek, Mississippi, was heading south on Highway 27 when he veered into the shoulder and apparently lost control.

Freeman was conscious when he was transported to Hardy Wilson Hospital in Hazlehurst. No word on his condition.

Later in the morning, the state trooper working that wreck had to turn around and report to another accident just a few miles away on Highway 51.

Officers believe 44-year-old Dean Moore lost control as he was traveling north. He slammed his Chevy Camaro into a tree.

Moore was the sole occupant. He was taken to St. Dominic, but family members on the scene say he appeared fine. Moore was wearing a seat belt.
