JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - An autopsy has determine how the man found inside the truck of a burning car actually died.
Around 3:30 Friday afternoon Jackson firefighters responded to the scene of that burning vehicle in the 100 block of Cynthia Road.
Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart has identified the victim as 30-year-old Jonathon Moore of Jackson.
The coroner said he died prior to the fire from a single gunshot wound to the head.
According to the coroner, 95% of Moore's body was burned.
Despite the extensive injuries, Grisham Stewart said family members were able to recognize enough of his face to positively identify him.
Moore's death launched this year's fourth homicide investigation for the Jackson Police Department.
