JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The brave acts of a Jackson State student were celebrated Saturday at a school basketball game.  In front of his family and peers, Lemarc Humphries was awarded during half time at the JSU men's basketball game by university President Dr. Ronald Mason.

Humphries' quick action Monday night helped save the life of 38-year-old Jackson State researcher Andrea Scott.  Scott was shot twice during a robbery behind John People's Science Building.

Humphries had heard the gunshots.  When he discovered Scott he called police right away. No arrests have been made in this case.
