Jackson caregiver arrested on multiple charges

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A Jackson caregiver was arrested Tuesday following indictment on various charges including identity theft and exploitation against a vulnerable adult under her care.

34 year old Stephanie Fields was taken into custody by investigators with the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of the Attorney General's office.

She was indicted by a Hinds County grand jury on one count of felonious identity theft, three counts felonious use of social security number to obtain goods, one count of attempted felonious use of social security number to obtain goods, three counts felonious exploitation of vulnerable adult, and one count attempted exploitation of vulnerable adult.

Fields allegedly used the identity of an elderly gentleman she was providing care for.

She is also accused of obtaining several credit cards as well as obtaining credit to purchase a computer system.

"In all, she is charged with running up charges in excess of $6,700, and attempting to charge an additional $2,000, using the 90 year old victim's name and social security number," said Attorney General Jim Hood.
