Accused cocaine dealer faces bribery charges

MADISON COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A Canton man facing a drug charge now stands accused of bribing a deputy to get it dismissed.

Madison County Sheriff Toby Trowbridge said 35-year-old Dennis Jerome Beal was originally charged with selling cocaine. 

The sheriff said Beal later offered the deputy who arrested him ten thousand dollars to drop the charge.

Several recorded conversations later, Beal showed up with half the money, was arrested again and charged with bribery.

He could face life in prison if convicted.
