One person dies in house fire

CANTON, MS (WLBT) - One person is killed and another injured in an early morning house fire in Canton.

Sheriff Toby Trowbridge tells us that emergency officials responded to 229 Hawkins Thompson Lane just before 6:00 Friday morning.

Firefighters were told that one person was still inside. Once the fire was put out they found the body of 66-year-old john garner.

Another man, 58-year-old Robert Luckett suffered some injuries and was taken to UMC.

Investigators are looking into what caused that fire.
